Criminal Law

Experience what it’s really like to be a criminal lawyer by representing a client in a criminal law matter.

Are you interested in practising in criminal law or curious to know what it might involve?

Leo Cussen Centre for Law provides those with a law degree hands-on, practical training to become effective lawyers. It offers the opportunity to run a criminal file from first contact with the client to appearing as advocate on their behalf in a simulated court environment.

This job simulation introduces you to the forensic analysis and strategic foresight essential to persuasively advocate for your client, by replicating the type of work you would be asked to do in a live internship.

The 3 tasks are designed to build your capacity to critically analyse information from the perspective of therapeutic jurisprudence. The tasks increase in difficulty and we therefore recommend that you work through them sequentially.

Please note that the tasks within this program are hypothetical and for learning purposes only. The scenario you will hear about is fictional and the client is portrayed by an actor. Please be aware that there is explicit language used within the program, which may be upsetting for some participants.

This program is self-paced. It takes approximately 3-4 hours to complete.
