Teaching Artist Position (College Internship)

Base Pay Rate: $25 per hour (based on experience)
Position: Teaching Artist – Theatre
Type: Part Time / Hourly / Seasonal (Must be available from Aug-Jun)

About TBEY Arts Center, Inc.
TBEY Arts Center strengthens youth and young adults through exposure to the arts and opportunities for creative expression. Youth and young adults ages 2-19 receive professional arts instruction, enjoy performances and exhibits, and receive tutoring, mentoring and coaching to achieve academically and pursue their interest in the arts.

Overview
TBEY Arts Center, Inc. is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Teaching Artist. Teaching artist will provide art instruction to students at assigned school(s) for the 2024-2025 school year. Teaching Artists will work closely with program staff for curriculum support. Each Teaching Artist will be provided with professional development (artistically and classroom management). TBEY Arts Center, Inc. program staff will be the point of contact for the school

Key Responsibilities

Planning:

  • Develop an arts curriculum, including weekly lesson plans, aligned with Wisconsin Arts Education Standards. TBEY program staff will support in tools and resources needed.
  • Attending meetings with and collaborate with TBEY program and artistic staff as needed.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development throughout the school year.

Arts Instruction:

  • Provide in-class arts instruction and engagement to students at assigned school(s) through active learning, dialogue, and hands-on experiences. Support will be provided by the school’s staff (paraprofessionals, classroom teachers, safety and other school support.)
  • Maintain and organize classroom supplies to support lesson objectives and align with curriculum standards.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience working with youth and arts.
  • Must be available between August – June.
  • Passionate about the arts and sharing your skills.
  • Knowledge and experience planning and developing arts lessons.
  • Knowledge and experience in classroom management and instructional methods.
  • Experience working with Google and Microsoft Teams programs.
  • Demonstrate clear communication skills.
