The Plastics Industry Association (PLASTICS), a Washington DC based trade association represents the nation’s nearly one million workers in the plastics industry. PLASTICS seeks a Program Coordinator to support Flexible Film Recycling Alliance (FFRA) initiatives and ensuring the seamless execution of key programs. This individual will collaborate with internal teams, external partners, and stakeholders to manage projects, provide administrative support, and track progress on strategic objectives.
FFRA is a coalition committed to advancing the recycling of flexible films, reducing plastic waste, and creating a circular economy for flexible plastics. Our objective is to drive collaboration across the value chain, policymakers, and communities to improve recycling infrastructure, expand consumer education, and develop innovative end markets for recycled materials.
Responsibilities:
Program Coordination & Support
- Support the execution of FFRA’s initiatives, including, but not limited to, store audit programs, consumer education campaigns, and supply chain pilots.
- Facilitate and build relationships with members and collaborators in efforts to expand FFRA’s network
- Maintain and update project trackers (Airtable), calendars, and documentation.
- Assist in the coordination of events, meetings, and workshops with retailers, policymakers, and other stakeholders.
- Prepare meeting agendas, take detailed minutes, and ensure follow-up on action items.
- Compile and analyze data from audits, recycling pilots, and consumer education programs.
- Prepare reports to measure progress against FFRA’s strategic goals.
Communications & Marketing
- Coordinate with the Marketing, Communications, and Digital Design teams and external vendors to develop communications collateral, such as emails, blogs, brochures, and social media posts, in support of consumer education programs and stakeholder engagement.
- Support the management of FFRA’s online presence via websites and social media channels.
- Field and respond to inquiries that are received in the general FFRA inboxes, including validating data points.
Member Development & Engagement
- Provide staff support and assistance to facilitate outreach and recruitment of new members.
- Work with PLASTICS team members to identify opportunities for outreach and recruitment.
- Coordinate with the Finance and Accounting team to generate invoices and track payments for new members and to support annual and renewal outreach processes.
- Maintain membership and committee records, distribution lists, etc. in the association management database (iMIS).
- Manage recordkeeping and associated deliverables related to membership.
- Support engagement with policymakers, community leaders, and other stakeholders to promote collaboration.
- Respond to inquiries from members, partners, and the public regarding FFRA initiatives.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies, Sustainability, Business Administration, or a related field.
- A minimum of two years’ experience in a similar role or related position in program coordination, project management, customer service industry or membership management; trade association experience preferred.
- Experience with customer relationship management and marketing platforms (HubSpot preferred).
- Experience with or willingness to learn an association management system (iMIS preferred).
- Experience with or willingness to learn about program management, sustainability, and the plastics industry.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Familiarity with sustainability, recycling, or supply chain concepts or a willingness to learn and develop.
- Written and verbal communications skills with diverse stakeholder audiences.
- Self-motivated with attention to detail, problem-solving, organizational, emotional intelligence, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to prioritize and work on a variety of projects, adjust to changing priorities, meet deadlines, and deliver results.
