Position Description:
Serve at catered functions on an on-call basis or weekly scheduled basis. Training provided. Set up, serve, tear down, and provide excellent customer service at a variety of catered events for students, staff, faculty, and members of the community. Events include break services, breakfasts, lunches, dinners, and receptions and concession sales for sporting events. Routine cleaning of service areas and side duties. Side duties will include but are not limited to baking cookies, brownies, Rice Krispy treats, brewing coffee, making lemonade & iced tea, folding napkins, and organizing catering storage areas. Hours fluctuate in number and will be subject to departmental needs.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
- Gathers equipment and supplies needed for proper service at scheduled catered events.
- Sets up and displays food and beverage items.
- Provides professional hospitality service to customers.
- Provides exceptional and proper table service, buffet service, butler passing, and beverage services.
- Transports, delivers, and retrieves equipment and supplies to and from the kitchen, storeroom, refrigerators, and freezers to catered events on campus and/or at satellite locations.
- Prepare and display food items.
- Assist in the organization and facilitating catered events.
- Help maintain a safe and sanitary environment that is in compliance with Pierce County Health Department policies and procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements (candidates must possess these requirements in order to be hired into this position):
Experience is helpful, not required. Reliable, dependable, responsible work habits. Able to follow and maintain the policies and procedures of the Dining Service Department. Excellent customer relation skills, ability to work effectively and collaboratively with other staff members. Hold (or able to obtain) a Washington State Food Handler’s Permit. Attentive to detail. Able to maintain a sanitary and safe work environment and lift 40 lbs.
