Position Description:
The Community & Event Assistant supports the Director of Community & Brand Management or the Office of Events in all publicity, administrative, and communication efforts. Staff members in this position may assist with distributing posters for events to campus and the community; collecting and organizing event materials; taking inventory of event supplies, branded merchandise, and collateral; being a brand ambassador at events, which includes interfacing with attendees, logistical coordination, and physical labor; handling administrative tasks such as attendee lists, name badge assembly, CRM notations in Razor’s Edge, and registration needs in Almabase; developing content for email newsletters in Emma, and other publicity and documentation needs at events.

Minimum Requirements (candidates must possess these requirements in order to be hired into this position):
Candidates must be able to explain and/or demonstrate that they possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities to safely perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Exception verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Experience with data entry, page layout, excel spread sheets
- Ability to research information in archives, files, and on websites
- Experience with content development and editing
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and priorities, and their deadlines
- At least one year completed at University of Puget Sound is preferred
Additional requirements and tasks for all MarCom student staff members:
- Ability to respectfully work and communicate within a diverse campus community
- Ability to lift 25 pounds safely
- Departmental mail pickup and distribution
- Additional training may be required for golf cart operation or website editing
- Distributing posters for events to campus and the community
- Distributing Arches magazine and other print pieces around campus as needed
- Assisting with major campus event preparations
- Other support duties as they may arise
Hours per week: 9 hours
