Position Description: We are a community of students with diverse interests working to build connections with alumni and parents through the shared Puget Sound experience and advocate for Student Financial Aid. It is a wonderful opportunity to network and develop marketable skills such as:

Opportunities for a promotion to Senior Philanthropy Advocate (with a pay raise) are available after the first semester of work at the Student Philanthropy Center. Senior Philanthropy Advocates have the opportunity to be promoted to Philanthropy Manager and/or Philanthropy Coordinator.

Responsibilities will include:
- Friend-raising and fundraising with Puget Sound alumni and parents
- Building rapport and providing information about the university
- Inviting constituents to university events
- Obtaining and processing pledges
- Thanking donors for their support and learning why they give
- Participate in team building activities and games.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
- Employees must be able to develop a conversation with diverse individuals, even individuals with whom they may have very little in common.
- Employees must understand and be able to communicate the financial needs of the university and confidently solicit constituents for their philanthropic support.
- Employees aim to call between 45-70 constituents each night.
- Employees support the Office of Annual Giving’s annual goal by aiming to collectively raise approximately 20% of that monetary goal in support for the Puget Sound Fund! Your work here makes a real difference!
- Employees learn statistics about the university and the student body and should be able to communicate them to constituents.
- Employees must maintain high attention to detail and follow different policies and procedures for specific constituents and situations.
- Employees must be able to problem-solve, think critically on their feet, and work independently.
- Employees are required to attend training sessions before they begin calling. Employees will be paid for the training sessions.
- Employees are required to report for work on time, on the nights they are scheduled to work, and must work the entire shift they are scheduled.
- Employees are required to find their own replacements if they are unable to work a scheduled shift for any reasons other than sickness. Employees must clear absences with Managers before 12pm noon on the day of their scheduled shift, via email.
Furthermore, depending on circumstances, one (1) unexcused absence (no call, no show) may result in the employee’s dismissal from the Student Philanthropy Center program. Two (2) tardies translate into an unexcused absence.
- Advocates must review, sign and follow the expectations set by the U.R. Confidentiality Agreement, Communications Agreement, and the Student Philanthropy Center Attendance Policies.
- Other duties as needed.
Hours per week: 9 hours
Student staff are not eligible for telework. Students must work in person from a designated work location on campus other than a residence.
