We are currently seeking a Contracted Electrical/Mechanical Engineer to support the fabrication and maintenance of these essential systems.
Position Overview: As a Contracted Electrical/Mechanical Engineer, you will be an integral part of our team responsible for fabricating and maintaining automated sampling systems used in drug release testing. Your expertise in both electrical and mechanical engineering will be essential in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of these systems, contributing directly to our mission of delivering safe and effective pharmaceutical products.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements and design specifications for automated sampling systems used in drug release testing.
- Apply your knowledge of electrical and mechanical engineering principles to fabricate components and assemble automated sampling systems, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and quality requirements.
- Develop and implement electrical control systems, including wiring, circuit design, and programming of PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) and HMIs (Human-Machine Interfaces).
- Conduct thorough testing and validation of automated sampling systems to verify performance and accuracy in drug release testing.
- Provide technical support for the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of sampling systems in pharmaceutical laboratories.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues, implementing corrective actions to minimize disruption to drug release testing processes.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of fabrication, installation, and maintenance activities, including technical specifications and troubleshooting procedures, in compliance with regulatory requirements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (or experience) in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience in the fabrication and maintenance of automated systems, particularly in pharmaceutical or biotechnology settings.
- Proficiency in electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical) and mechanical design software (e.g., SolidWorks).
- Hands-on experience with PLC programming, HMI configuration, and familiarity with industrial communication protocols.
- Strong understanding of mechanical fabrication techniques, including precision machining and assembly.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements governing pharmaceutical manufacturing and testing processes, including FDA guidelines for drug release testing.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex electrical and mechanical issues effectively.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and communicate technical concepts clearly.
Location: This position is based on a contractual arrangement, with the possibility of remote work depending on project requirements. Travel to pharmaceutical laboratories for installation and maintenance may be required (Fremont area, Seattle, WA).
